Yes! I’ve been excited about this album for awhile and I’m so happy I get to review this beast of an album. Bort is from Vancouver, BC, and they are like a Alternative/Stoner rock band that bring the heavy bluesy riffs and rough raspy vocals. Now let’s get right into this
To start off they really transport you to the desert with “White Desert Sun” and it’s a great intro to the heavy hitter of “The Beerfields of Bridgeview,” and I have to say the lyrics are really sweet throughout this album. It starts to pick up the pace with “Hello, Mr. Thompson”, it’s got great riffs and solid melodies that will hook you straight from the start.
To me this is a real “roller coaster” of an album which is great. It’s got plenty of highs but it really knows how to get down and slow and make you feel sad which is great, it’s always something I look for in a album.
I think maybe the only negative thing about this album is that it tends to have generic song structures and it can get a bit predictable, but none the less it’s a great album and it’s definitely one of my favorites this year. Go support this great band and go check them out live!
Today I’m giving this album a 6/10 here on Mammoth Tongue Reviews.
